Brussels – EU chemical trade shrinks. In 2023, both flows — in and out — shrank. ‘Made in EU’ exports declined 5 percent to 523 billion euros from the record value of exports in 2022 (552 billion euros), Eurostat said in data released today (Nov. 6). The value of imports of chemicals from non-EU countries into the EU dropped 10 percent to 326 billion euros, down from 363 billion euros the previous year. Trade in chemicals includes chemical materials and products, fertilizers, medical and pharmaceutical products, and plastics.
