Brussels – The Parliament will be the first Union institution to have a formal presentation of the European Competitiveness Report that former Council President Mario Draghi has put together.
The official parliamentary work calendar explains that “the president (Roberta Metsola, ed.) will chair the meeting of the Conference of Presidents on Wednesday (Sept. 4) in the presence of Mario Draghi, who will present his report on the future of European competitiveness.”
The competitiveness report was expected in recent months, but its presentation has been postponed several times, according to some observers, for electoral reasons. But on July 9, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen clarified that “the report on the future of European competitiveness, commissioned from Mario Draghi as special adviser to the Commission president, is still being drafted.”
This work will reportedly be a key part of the ideas for the work program of the next European Commission in Brussels.
