Brussels – The Eurogroup has reappointed Tuomas Saarenheimo as chairman of the Eurogroup Working Group (EWG), the body that prepares meetings of eurozone finance ministers. Tuomas Saarenheimo has held the post since April 1, 2020. It will be his third two-year term.
Finland’s Tuomas Saarenheimo, 60, has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics. He was formerly executive director for the Nordic and Baltic countries at the International Monetary Fund. He was also re-elected as chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee, which, among other tasks, helps prepare the work of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council and promotes policy coordination among EU member states.
