Brussels – “Today, more than ever, Europe needs unity and strength. We cannot afford to remain divided and weak in the face of major global challenges: security, ecological transition, economic competitiveness, and fundamental rights,” said MEP Sandro Gozi, secretary general of the European Democratic Party, presenting the event “The Strength of the United States of Europe,” on April 5, at 11:00 a.m., at the Holy Trinity Theater in Verona.
“The United States of Europe is not a utopia but a historical necessity,” Gozi continued. “We need a Europe that is a sovereign and democratic power, capable of defending its values and its citizens in the world. We must accelerate the construction of a true common defense and strengthen our engagement in major European initiatives for a stronger, more cohesive, and effective Union. That is why the European Democratic Party is at the forefront of building a truly sovereign and federal Union.”
The initiative, promoted by the European Democratic Party, aims to discuss the challenges and opportunities for building a genuine political and federal Union of Europe, a goal the EDP has always supported. Participants will include Emma Bonino, the director of the International Affairs Institute Nathalie Tocci, +Europa MEP Benedetto Della Vedova, European Parliament Vice-President Pina Picierno, and EDP Secretary General Sandro Gozi. Also scheduled to speak will be Marco Taradash, Anna Lisa Nalin, Giordano Masini, and Corrado Cortese, who will delve into the political, economic, and institutional perspectives of the federal project.
