Brussels – A just, but above all, a lasting peace. That is what Defense Minister Guido Crosetto is calling for in Ukraine, and he explained this to reporters on the sidelines of the NATO ministerial meeting held today in Brussels.
The hope, the minister said, is that “we get to a just and, using a term that was used by everyone (the ministers present, ed.), lasting peace as soon as possible. That it be true peace and not just a stop to start again in a few years.”
“Because,” Crosetto cautioned, “we have seen what has happened over the years. First Georgia, then we moved on to Crimea, then now Donbass. We would not want that, piece by piece, with the artichoke policy, eventually we end up totally peeling off Ukraine. So the goal, even in the United States, even by Trump, will be a just and lasting peace.”
