Brussels – Iliana Ivanova will again be the Bulgarian member of the European Court of Auditors (ECA), the Council of the Union decided today.

Until recently, Ivanova was the European Commissioner responsible for innovation, research, culture, education, and youth. She previously served as a Member of the European Court of Auditors between 2013 and 2023, during which she notably chaired the ECA Audit Quality Control Committee, and as Dean of Chamber II, was responsible for audit tasks relating to regional, social, and cohesion policy. Ivanova has now been appointed for a new term as an ECA Member from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2030.

The Council makes its decisions based on member states proposals and after consulting the European Parliament.
