Brussels – The European Union signed two new security and defence partnerships with Albania and North Macedonia. The collaborative project is, in both cases, designed to strengthen national capabilities and improve regional cooperation on cybersecurity, crisis management, combating hybrid threats and terrorism, and training for officials.
The partnership includes participation in security and defence meetings organized by the EU and the development of enhanced cooperation to support Ukraine in the war against Russian aggression. The parties also pledged to jointly contribute to strengthening regional stability in the Western Balkans.
These agreements are part of Albania and Macedonia’s alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, a sine qua non for membership.
