Brussels – Raffaella Iodice is the new director of the European Union Crisis Management Center. She was given the post by the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and is part of a broader package of appointments. The External Action Service’s Crisis Response Centre is the single access point for all crisis-related issues in the External Service. It has 24/7 permanent crisis response capabilities for emergencies that threaten the security of EU delegation staff or in response to crises affecting EU citizens abroad.
Iodice has previously served as Chargée d’affaires of the EU and has been Head of the Unit for Latin America, the Caribbean and the Pacific in the European Commission’s Directorate for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO).
