Brussels – Draghi’s Report on Competitiveness, the wait is over. The long-awaited document will be presented on September 9 to the European Commission by the president of the EU institution itself, Ursula von der Leyen, and the document’s author, Mario Draghi. A press conference is scheduled at 11 a.m. to explain the dossier’s contents, which will lay the foundation for the new European legislature. The competitiveness report will be used to set the work program of the second von der Leyen Commission.
The Draghi Report consists of five macro-chapters: productivity, dependency reduction, climate, social inclusion, and recipes for individual sectors, which the former premier reduced to ten, to be prioritized as appropriate. Innovation and technology is the sector Draghi himself emphasized, calling attention to a productivity gap that needs to be filled.
From the anticipations provided by Draghi himself, central will also be the willingness to proceed with unprecedented reforms with a whole new political determination.
