Brussels – The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the formation of a joint venture (IPlanet) by Italiana Petroli SpA (“IP”) and EV Asset Holdings SpA, both Italian companies.
The transaction mainly concerns the installation and operation of ultrafast public charging stations for electric vehicles outside highways in Italy, as well as the provision of subscription services for public charging stations for electric vehicles.
The Commission concluded that the notified transaction does not raise competition concerns, given the limited market positions of the companies resulting from the proposed transaction. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
