“Dear Jean-Claude Juncker, we are supporting you, we will be at your side, reasonable, accomodating, ‘flexible’, for sure we are not going to be intransigent, stubborn or too strict,” said Elisabetta Gardini, Head of the Forza Italia Delegation at the European Parliament.
“We share your approach on immigration, it is not a regional problem, it’s European,” added the MEP, “and we share your proposal of cutting bureaucracy as well, of radically changing the Troika and of taking care of the social dimension of Europe.”
Talking on behalf of Forza Italia, Gardini has also reiterated the importance of adopting the principle of flexibility in order to boost growth in Europe: “We expect your Commission not to just apply the Stability and Growth Pact using its mitigating clauses. We need to take a step further.” Gardini then added: “If growth and employment, as you said, are the true priority, if we want things to change, if we need Europe to be closer to its citizens, we cannot avoid to take this path.”
