The Chancellor: “I haven’t changed my habits in my communication, which have a coherent logic.” But for all the communications of the state she uses an encrypted telephone
Angela Merkel will continue to speak on the telephone, as she has always done, even knowing that she was monitored. “I have not changed my habits in my communication, which have a coherent logic. Whoever speaks to me will hear the same things as before,” the Chancellor said in a press conference last night at the end of the first day of the European Summit in Brussels. But Merkel no longer uses the Christian Democratic Union cell which was monitored and as for communications of state – she uses an encrypted telephone. In relations with the USA, the Chancellor sustains that “It is not a one-way street. Nice words are not enough; real change is necessary to re-establish faith.”
