Each Minister will present the priorities of the Italian Semester in their specific area, they will listen to any objection and answer MEPs’ questions. Few days after the beginning of the rotating Presidency, Italian Ministers will have their hearings with the European Parliament Committees of their areas. On Tuesday and Wednesday in fact, nine Ministers, Vice Ministers and Under Secretaries will take part to the first round of meetings: the second will be held at the beginning of September.
Pier Carlo Padoan, Italian Minister of Economy, will be the first to be heard at the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. Angelino Alfano, Interior Minister, together with the Minister of Justice, Andrea Orlando, will have their hearing at the Civil Liberties Committee. The Transport Committee will hold the hearing of Maurizio Lupi, who will present the programme of the Italian Semester, while Giuliano Poletti, Minister of Labour, will have a speech at the Employment and Social Affairs Committee. Federica Mogherini, Foreign Affairs Minister, will chair the Foreign Affairs Council, hence her Deputy, Lapo Pistelli, will illustrate the priorities of the semester to the Development Committee. The Under Secretary for European Affairs, Sandro Gozi, will have two hearings, at the Constitutional Affairs Committee and at the Women Rights Committee.
On Wednesday, Gian Luca Galletti, Minister of the Environment, and Beatrice Lorenzin, Minister of Health, will have their word.
