The Foreign Minister of Kiev, Pavlo Klimkin, will take part to the EU Council of Foreign Affairs in Brussels, to be chaired by Federica Mogherini. The Italian Foreign Affairs Minister announced it: Ukraine will be, together with the crisis in the Middle East, one of the main topics to be discussed, in view of the recent developments connected to the MH17 aircraft of Malaysia Airlines was shot down on July 17.
Kimklin will be in Belgium, said Mogherini, “to brief us about the situation on the ground, the recovery of corpses and the access to the crash site for international observers.” The Italian Minister underlined she agrees with the High Representative of the EU Catherine Ashton, and indicated the need “to open an international, rigorous and open inquiry.” Dealing with the European Union, Mogherini – who held several talks earlier this week with her British, French and German counterparts – said she expects “a strong, coordinated and unanimous reaction.” She added that “the role of the Presidency is facilitating the dialogue among all the 28 Member States, and Italy will play its role.”
