The Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, was waiting at the door of the room of the European Council for meeting Angela Merkel and François Hollande, when his host, Herman Van Rompuy politely asked him to enter, given he was there alone. Yet Matteo Renzi sent him the Italian Ambassador to explain the PM was waiting for someone. Then Merkel and Hollande arrived together and suddenly Renzi went in front of them. Smiles, a bit of chatting, then the Chancellor and the French President proceeded towards the room of the Council. When greeting the Italian Prime Minister, a smiling Chancellor Merkel punched her fist on the palm of her hand, as per saying “go on, insist.”
