The Italian Minister of Interior at the EPP Summit in Brussels talk about “a request that can be accepted by Europe,” adding: “We won’t exceed the 3% margins, we will just use them in full.”
The idea brought about by the Italian Prime Minister Renzi of asking the European Union to spin structural funds off the calculation for the Stability and Growth Pact “is both a radical and reasonable idea, and I think Europe could well accept it,” said Angelino Alfano, Italian Minister of Interior, after the EPP Summit heldearlier today in Brussels, before the European Council meeting. According to Minister Alfano, “this won’t create a mess into Italian public accounts, it will be a way for better regulating our relation with Europe dealing with the European funds.”
“I think this is a reasonable proposal,” added Alfano, “given that we do not want to exceed the 3 percent margins, we just want to use them in full.”
